Building a dam on your property: what is involved

A good dam is more than a hole in the ground. Build it properly and it holds water for decades. Cut corners and it leaks or silts up fast.

Siting it right

The spot matters, you want a natural catchment and the right soil to hold water. We help you pick the best location on the block.

Keying it in

The base and walls are keyed into solid ground and compacted so water cannot track out underneath. This is the step cheap jobs skip.

Spillways and batters

A proper spillway carries overflow away safely, and well-shaped batters stop erosion and make the dam safe around the edges.
